Ines Alves is a Lecturer in Inclusive Education and Programme Leader for the MEd in Inclusive Education at The University of Glasgow. She holds a PhD in Education, University of Manchester; a MA in Special Education (Inclusion and Disability Studies), Institute of Education, London; and a MA in Language, Ethnicity and Education from King’s College London. 

This session explores the definition of Inclusive Education: access, participation and success of all learners in education. It discusses the challenges to develop inclusive education, namely the focus on individuals rather than in identifying and addressing contextual barriers to inclusion. Finally, it focuses on the characteristics and needs of inclusive practitioners.
