As part of the Early Years SENCO Partnership Project, nasen have produced 9 case studies of effective practice for SEND in PVI settings, one from each of our Local Authorities currently taking part in the project this year. In addition to describing their approach to the identification of SEND and provision for meeting the needs of all children, settings explain how they work in partnership with parents and the arrangements they made during lockdown.

An Outline of Effective Practice for SEND Provision in a Birmingham PVI Setting

In this case study we hear from the nursery manager and SENCO of a pre-school setting in Birmingham. Interviewed in December 2020, this practitioner describes the setting’s approach and also their experience during the Covid-19 pandemic. The case study outlines the provision, describes how they support children with SEND and the strategies and creative ways they supported the children during lockdown and beyond.
