Free Coronation Gifts for children with vision impairment
The charity Living Paintings has given away thousands of free coronation gifts to help blind and visually impaired children experience the coronation through touch and sound. The tactile-audio gifts have famous names such as Sir Derek Jacobi, Dame Joanna Lumley and Roman Kemp bringing the tactile gifts to life with specially recorded audio descriptions. For those who may not have received one for a child in their setting, the audio descriptions are available, including the welcome from the Archbishop of Canterbury, and while you won’t have the picture for children to feel they can hear the details. There are also activities suggested to enhance the sensory experience for blind children to support them to be part of the celebration.
Living Paintings have a library of tactile and audio books and is free to join for teachers supporting blind and visually impaired children in the UK. There are reading books and resources tied into the curriculum.
