nasen Live 2021 agenda released!
We are delighted to this week launch the agenda, for our flagship SEND conference, nasen Live 2021, which is due to take on the 24th September 2021.
Over 25 leading experts in the sector will deliver engaging and topical speaker presentations and CPD sessions around the theme, Inclusion beyond COVID, to help attendees support children and young people with SEND and learning differences across early years, primary, secondary, post-16 and special schools and settings.
This much-anticipated event, sponsored by Axcis Education and GL Assessment, is one of the first national opportunities to share SEND best practice and network face-to-face with like-minded professionals.
Highlights of the programme include (with further details to be announced in due course):
- Louisa Reeves, Head of Impact and Evidence, from I CAN - the children’s communication charity - will explore the importance of meeting the needs of children and young people with speech, language and communication needs (SLCN) as we emerge from the pandemic
- Philippa Stobbs, Assistant Director: Education, from the National Children’s Bureau (NCB) will address the challenges of preparing for adulthood for young people with SEND
- Mrunal Sisodia and Tina Emery, Co-Chairs from the National Network of Parent Carer Forums, will explore the long-term impact of COVID-19 on families of young people with SEND
- Katherine Walsh and Amelie Thompson from Whole School SEND discussing their Teacher Handbook: SEND
- Jenny Fox, Senior Subject Specialist, from PHSE Association will look at relationships, sex and health education (RSHE) for young people with SEND
- Mary Busk, NHS Family Care Adviser, will discuss the importance of health checks for children and young people with SEND
- Paul Keenleyside, Executive Director from NISAI will explore neurodiversity and online education, including ways to design effective environments for learning
Conference delegates will also hear from Assistant Head, Heba Al-Jayoosi from Mayflower Primary School who will share her best practice on holistic and SEN support while Headteacher, Dr Julian Grenier from Sheringham Nursery School and Children’s Centre, will share his experiences in the early years sector.
Five panel sessions also feature on the agenda covering embedding support for SEMH (social, emotional and mental health), preparation for adulthood, ‘catching up’ on play, inclusion by design and student voice.
In addition, representatives from Bath Spa University, Teaching Assistant Network, Phoenix Education Consultancy and Youth Sport Trust will share their research and perspectives on school support, inclusion, health, education and wellbeing for children and young people with SEND.
Over the course of the conference, a wide range of exhibitor stalls will be available representing leading organisations and services, including, amongst others, TTS, ADHD Foundation, Mable Therapy, School Improvement Liverpool, GCSE Pod and Targeted Provision.
