Children’s Mental Health Week
Children’s mental health week starts 7th February 2022 and the theme is ‘Growing Together’. During this week schools across the UK will be exploring the concept of growing emotionally and supporting each other to grow. The pandemic has further highlighted the potential positive impact schools can have on mental health for our young people. There are a number of organisations who have produced resources to help schools to support lessons around mental health.
- Place2Be have a number of resources including virtual assemblies with a host of well-known stars.
- Anna Freud have written a toolkit themed around four different areas: Anti-racism, LGBTQI+, Girls and young women and Disability and neurodiversity.
- The NHS has a guide for parents and carers to help support a young person’s mental health as part of their ‘Every Mind Matters’ support service.
- The government recently announced the ‘Stop Abuse Together’ programme which has a lot of signposting to supporting organisations for mental health.
- Mental Health First Aid England run courses in conjunction with nasen on youth mental health awareness.
