National Breakfast Club Programme extended

Due to the ongoing impact of Covid within school settings, the Department for Education has extended support for breakfast club provision. It is well established that providing a healthy school breakfast can contribute to improved readiness to learn, increased concentration and improved wellbeing.

The DfE will be prioritising support for those schools in the 12 opportunity areas and schools in disadvantaged areas will be eligible if 40% or more pupils fall into bands A-F of the income deprivation affecting children index (IDACI). This includes state-funded primary, secondary, special schools and pupil referral units.
Schools who think they may be eligible will have 100% subsidised, healthy free food delivered to their school until the end of July 2022. They will then receive up to three terms of subsidised food and will then be asked to contribute 25% of towards supply and delivery from September 2022 to July 2023. The DfE contract is being delivered by Family Action.

If you wish to know more there is an expression of interest form that will also confirm your eligibility for the programme.

To find out what other schools think about the programme there is a blog post and if you need help you can email info@schoolbreakfast.org.uk or call 020 39287228.
