Nursery World winner - Footprints Learning for Life Nursery scoops Inclusive Practice Award sponsored by nasen

We were thrilled to sponsor the Inclusive Practice Award at the Nursery World 2021 Awards, which took place on Sunday 26 September.

Footprints Learning for Life Nursery in Hartlepool was announced as the winner of the Award for their amazing work promoting equality and best outcomes for all children, regardless of ethnicity, special educational needs, background or disadvantage.

Based in one of the most deprived areas of the UK, Footprints Learning for Life Nursery believes firmly in the individual. Children attend the nursery from a wide variety of backgrounds and have different needs and abilities, including those with autism, ADHD, deafness, global developmental delay and genetic conditions such as cancer and diabetes.

Each child has their own care plan with a keyworker who knows the child completely and understands how to successfully develop their unique skill set whilst offering parents and carers a flexible service with additional transport if needed.

The staff team, who themselves are as diverse as the children they support, work closely with external professionals, including agencies such as fostering, adoption, special needs groups and social workers. Staff also undertake bereavement courses with the local hospice so they can assist their children who may have recently lost a loved one.

Amrit Singh, Chief Operating Officer at nasen who presented the Inclusive Practice Award at the Nursery World Awards, said “Congratulations to all nominees and entrants across all categories, with a special shout out to the brilliant team at Footprints Learning for Life Nursery for winning the Inclusive Practice Award. We were blown away by the work they do to support and champion young children with SEND and additional needs. It was an excellent field and a privilege to hear so many inspiring stories.

“Footprints Nursery provides children with one-to-one support in a safe and nurturing setting providing opportunities and adventures so everyone can flourish in their own way. It was an honour to present the team with their Award – they are well deserved winners! I would also like to share a special congratulations to Laura Henry-Allain for winning the Lifetime Achievement Award.”
