Updated Government guidance around aerosol generating procedures (AGPs)
The Government have today released updated guidance within the Safe working in education, childcare and children’s social care settings, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE). It specifically relates to APGs, such as non-invasive ventilation (NIV), bi-level positive airway pressure ventilation (BiPAP), continuous positive airway pressure ventilation (CPAP), and respiratory tract suctioning beyond the oro-pharynx. The guidance advises settings to, among other procedures, ensure there is good ventilation in the environment where AGPs are undertaken and that peers and other staff members are at least two metres away during the procedure.
