British Youth Council recruiting young people to improve assistive technology in Further Education

The British Youth Council is recruiting young people from across England to be part of their Access and Assistance for All programme. The programme provides opportunities for a group of 18 young people aged 16 to 25 years old to increase promotion and use of assistive technology in Further Education.

The programme aims to have 2 champions from each region of England with lived experience as well as professionals with expertise in assistive technology and Further Education to create regional campaigns, co-produce a national campaign and develop a hub of  information to provide signposting and guidance to FE to promote assistive technology and ‘accessibility by design’.

The following prompts may help in deciding if this is an opportunity for you or someone you know:

  • Are you aged 16 -25 with current or recent experience (last 3 years) of attending college in England?
  • Do you have experience using assistive technology and/or would you have benefitted from more access to assistive technologies while studying in FE?
  • Are you passionate about improving outcomes for young people with learning differences or disabilities?
  • Do you have the confidence (with support) to approach education professionals and decision-makers in your local area?

There is an application pack and application form available for the role with a closing date of 10th October.
