Free conference - Hygge in the Early Years

early years

The Danish word ‘Hygge’ is used to describe a feeling or moment that is cosy, charming or special. Hygge in the Early Years is a website set up by Kimberley Smith to emphasise the benefits of bringing Hygge into the Early Years. The website contains many resources to support practitioners to engage in more outdoor learning and create calmer environments for children to learn.

In honour of International Hygge Day, celebrated on 28th February, settings can download a free pack of resources containing inspirational activities to try. There is then a free conference taking place on Saturday 5th March entitled ‘The Magic of Outdoor Play’. It will feature speakers from the UK and beyond and celebrate the impact of Hygge and nature-based practice. For all pupils, particularly those with SEND, opportunities to engage with a multi-sensory learning experience is a vital way to support their development.
