School Exclusions video guide for care givers

A new video has been produced to provide an overview of school exclusions for parents, carers and guardians focusing on how to prevent them, alternatives and what to do when they occur. The video has been created by students volunteering with Warwick Law in the Community (LinC), with the support of Warwickshire County Council, Warwickshire Parent Carer Voice Forum, Bailey Wright & Co Solicitors. The information provided is independent and has been checked against current government guidance

The video details:

  • What school exclusions are and when they can be used
  • How to prevent school exclusions through early intervention
  • Things to look out for and dealing with unlawful exclusion
  • How to deal with a permanent school exclusion
  • How to get help and legal advice

There are also links below the video to support signposting to organisations that can help such as the School Exclusion Project, an organisation that provides free advice and representation from the point of receiving an exclusion letter, all the way to independent review panels and tribunals.
