SEND CPD Conference for SENCos and School Leaders
On Monday 11th November, nasen will host a comprehensive SEND CPD Conference for Halton Borough Council. The one-day event, to be held at The Heath Business & Technical Park, will target SENCOs and other school leaders from primary, secondary, early years, and FE institutions. The conference is funded by the Department for Education's Delivering Better Value Programme, and the one-day event will provide professional development and networking opportunities through the delivery of four interactive workshops.
Participants will rotate between workshops throughout the day, addressing key issues in SEND education, with a dedicated session for Early Years leaders. Key facilitators include Zoe Mather, Anna Speke, Ffion Robinson, and Samantha McFarlane, all experienced education officers at nasen. Their workshops will focus on mental health, proactive inclusion strategies, fostering belonging to improve attendance, and effectively identifying and supporting students with complex needs.
The day will start with a keynote session focusing on the national and local context for SEND and conclude with a plenary session to reflect on key learnings and provide an opportunity to plan next steps. The conference also features exhibitor stands to explore during breaks.
This event, planned and organised in collaboration with staff within Halton Borough Council, is a valuable opportunity for school leaders to enhance their understanding of current SEND challenges and collaborate on effective strategies with colleagues across the borough.
