Young people with Vision Impairment and experience of post-16 learning wanted for advisory group

Visual Impairment
VI
post-16

nasen is proud to be working on a project with funding from the Thomas Pocklington Trust titled “Accessing the Future  - improving outcomes for VI learners in post-16”. Through engagement with the sector, we will host a hub of resources and co-produce with an advisory group two webinars. At the heart of this project is ensuring fair and equitable access and support for young people with VI and providing them with the opportunities that all young people should be entitled to. The aim is to enable practitioners to be more confident and access the best practice to support young people with vision impairment (VI) in post-16 schools, training providers and Further Education colleges.

As part of the project we are recruiting to a four-person advisory group to support the aims and delivery of the project. There are two positions for young people with VI (18 to 25 years) who are experts by experience and two positions for practitioners who have experience delivering teaching to those learners with VI across post-16 settings. We have filled the roles for post-16 professionals and are extending the deadline for those with lived experience of VI and attending post-16 institutions or training.

If you have had a great experience or have beaten the challenges that occurred and you are able to advocate for yourself then we want to hear from you. High levels of communication and willingness to discuss how your VI impacts learning and independence, and what can be done to best support you and others in that situation. Willingness to be part of the webinar on screen is desirable. To register your interest please complete the form below. For further information please contact education@nasen.org.uk.

Deadline for application is 16th June 2023
Selection will be completed by 19th June 2023.
