Session Synopsis
Chapter 8 of the Code of Practice is entitled ‘Preparing for adulthood from the earliest years’. Chapter 8 discusses the four preparing for adulthood outcomes but without reference to anything before the age of 14. Children and young people told us that the discussion needs to start much earlier and families told us they’d just like more discussion. This seminar explores how schools, families and those working with them can start preparation for adulthood earlier, and how the Whole School SEND Review Guide can help. Many of the themes, particularly preventing social isolation, are highly relevant to recovery from COVID.
This resource was first published in October 2021 and was last reviewed in October 2023.
