Session Synopsis

With the introduction of statutory guidance for Relationships, Sex and Health Education coming into force this year, it is more important now than ever before that schools get to grips with supporting young SEND people to access this content. This session gives an overview of what is expected of schools in relation to RSHE, and how to specifically tailor planning the curriculum and lesson activities to the differing needs of learners with SEND.

Delegates will take away advice and key resources to help them tailor their RSHE/PSHE curriculum to the needs of learners with SEND, including strategies for delivering lessons using a safe, inclusive approach and examples of lessons to address specific aspects of the RSHE curriculum.

Session audience: Predominantly aimed at teachers and SENCOs in primary and secondary schools – others are welcome.
