Find out why supported internship programmes are proven to be excellent pathways into employment for young people with SEND and how you can use this information to better prepare your students for the world of work.
Join us for this valuable overview of supported internships, what they are, and why they are such valuable pathways to employment for young people with SEND. As well as exploring the importance of raising the aspirations of students and their parents/carers from the earliest years, the session will cover how to find out about quality supported internship provision within your area and what you can do to be well informed and more involved. The session will feature practitioners currently involved in supported internships, including a job coach, a current intern, and a graduated and employed intern, as well as hearing from supporting businesses.
The session will also introduce the valuable National SEND Employment Forum and will share their aims and purpose as well as sharing their top tips around supported internships.
Target audience: Primary, Secondary, Post-16; SENCOs, teachers, setting leaders, careers leads/advisors, TAs and support staff, Local Authority staff.
