#NL2022: Universal Design for Learning and the Mythical “Norm”
- General
- 18 Jul 2022
These slides were presented by Nicola Martin at nasen Live 2022. If you like what you see, please come along to our flagship event next year! Keep an eye out in our newsletter or magazine to know when tickets are on sale.
Session Synopsis
In this session, Nicola will explore the Universal Design for Learning (UDL) approach. This is based on the idea of planning for, rather than being surprised by diversity.
UDL is built on respect for individuality, an understanding of intersectionality and a commitment to ensuring that everyone is celebrated.
Nicola will argue that there is no such person as a mythical 'norm' - everyone is different and everyone belongs.
