Ofsted report card consultation

Ofsted are seeking views on the replacement of single view judgements following inspections, with a report card.

The Secretary of State for Education, Bridget Phillipson, announced “the governments vision for high and rising standards in every school through raising the bar of expectation, challenging all schools to tackle poor performance and achieve better outcomes for all our children.”

Part of the school accountability reforms is the replacement of the single-word judgement with a new ‘report card’ and a change to Ofsted’s inspection structures. They have launched a consultation that closes on 28th April 2025, focusing on these two key areas. They are asking for school staff, parent carers and those with an interest in schools to complete the survey.

The full proposals can be viewed on the government website with the questions for the survey.
