Launch of Equal Play in PE

ParalympicsGB commissioned We Are Futures earlier this year to undertake research into school sport and P.E. The research found that only 1 in 4 disabled children regularly take part in PE and school sport and so are missing out on the confidence, self-belief and sense of belonging that comes with it.
Inclusive PE is something every teacher strives for, but the practical, classroom-ready support is hard to come by. In fact, 95% of teachers encounter physical or sensory needs in their class, yet only 45% feel confident supporting them.

Equal Play in PE was created to change this. It is designed to help every child participate in PE and school sport, regardless of ability, need, or experience.

Equal Play in PE helps you:

  • Adapt activities so more pupils can participate and succeed
  • Access practical ideas that can be used straight away
  • Reduce planning time with ready-to-use resources
  • Support whole-school inclusion through PE

What’s included?

  • Athlete videos showcasing how Paralympians adapt physical activity
  • Real classroom footage of inclusive PE in action
  • Simple guides for adapting activities and games
  • Pupil-friendly participation cards
  • Ready-to-use inclusive lesson progressions and teaching resources

Whether you're a class teacher looking for practical lesson support, or a leader aiming to strengthen inclusion across your school or club, Equal Play in PE will provide the tools, inspiration and confidence to make every PE lesson count.
