Summer 2021 Accreditation Award Consultation

Following the announcement in the House of Commons last week that examinations for the Summer series will not go ahead as planned, a joint consultation between the department of the Secretary of State for Education and OFQUAL will begin later this week. Whilst looking at the system for teacher assessment, part of this consultation will be the potential requirement to have some form of externally set tasks or papers as part of wider evidence for assessment grades. No algorithms have been proposed though external checks to support fairness and consistency as well as the structure of the appeals process are being consulted on. Scheduled online assessments, such as functional skills, will be allowed to take place within PHE guidance over the next few months and some continual assessment of certain courses may also continue.

The consultation is to seek the views of all stakeholders, pupils, parents and carers, and educators on the awarding of GCSE’s, A-levels and Vocational Technical Qualifications. Both departments have agreed to carry out an equalities assessment on any decisions to ensure they are fair to all and to mitigate any potential impact.

The link for the consultation is now open and closes 29 January 2021 at 23:45 you can find the link below.
