Session Synopsis & Audience

The session will consider the meaning of the term ‘neurodiversity’ and the importance of how this term is characterised when looking at inclusive education. Dominic will introduce the concept of 'Universal Design for Learning', which dovetails well with the 'universal' model of neurodiversity, which is a key pedagogical model in helping new teachers build their understanding of and confidence in planning teaching for a class of diverse learners. This is an important issue for all teachers committed to inclusive education, not just those new to the profession.

Session audience: Predominantly aimed at educators across all phases. It will be of particular interest to initial teacher educators, school practitioners and advisors.
