Free targeted mental health support tool and guide
The Mentally Healthy Schools programme, delivered by Anna Freud, has released a guide and toolkit to help schools and colleges develop effective targeted mental health and wellbeing support. Both resources have been produced in conjunction with the Department for Education and are free to all settings. The toolkit and guide are designed to help staff with responsibility for supporting mental health and wellbeing needs to review, plan and embed effective targeted support that meets the needs of pupils.
The guide provides the following areas to support in the provision:
- Understanding your setting
- Identifying appropriate targeted support
- Introducing targeted mental wellbeing support
- Evaluating, sustaining and adapting targeted support
The toolkit outlines in-school or college options that have been evaluated and provides information on appropriate age ranges, further information on the programme logistics and links to qualified practitioner providers if appropriate.
The funding for settings to apply to have a Senior Mental Health Lead trained is still available and this closes on 31st March 2024.
