A new chapter for SEND professional learning: Introducing nasen Academy
A new chapter for SEND professional learning: Introducing nasen Academy
We’re delighted to share the launch of nasen Academy - a new digital learning platform created to support everyone working with and for children and young people with SEND.
Across education, expectations continue to grow while the needs of learners become more complex. We know those across the SEND community are working incredibly hard, often balancing multiple responsibilities and pressures. nasen Academy has been developed in direct response to this - to provide accessible, specialist professional learning that fits around the realities of your role and setting.
Alongside this launch, we’ve also refreshed our membership offer. Core membership remains completely free, while our new nasen Plus membership gives individuals access to enhanced benefits: https://nasen.org.uk/why-join
We’re also offering organisational subscriptions to nasen Academy, so that schools, trusts and settings can support professional learning across their teams.
Professional learning designed around you
Inclusive practice thrives when knowledge is shared - across classrooms, leadership teams, governance and the wider SEND community. nasen Academy brings together expert-led SEND training in one structured online space, making it easier to access high-quality professional development whenever it suits you.
Courses have been shaped by SEND specialists, policy insight, research evidence and real practical experience. Whether you’re new to SEND, developing leadership expertise or strengthening whole-setting practice, the platform is designed to support learning at every stage.
Courses available now - and more to come
Our initial course offer focuses on practical SEND practice, leadership and strategic understanding. These are designed not just to inform, but to support confident decision-making and day-to-day impact for children and young people with SEND.
This is just the beginning. The Academy will continue to grow, with future courses shaped by:
- Sector developments and policy change
- Emerging research and evidence
- Feedback from members and the wider SEND community

Because improving outcomes for children and young people with SEND is always a shared endeavour.
A message from our CEO
Annamarie Hassall, Chief Executive Officer at nasen, said:
“Education professionals are doing extraordinary work in increasingly complex SEND environments. As responsibilities have expanded across the system, it’s vital that access to high-quality, evidence-informed professional development expands with them. nasen Academy is about supporting the community with consistent, practical training that reflects the realities of SEND practice across roles and settings.”
