Youth Mental Health Day

Today marks youth mental health day in the UK and, with older teenagers and young adults being deemed the groups whose mental health was affected most by the pandemic, this focus on mental health is a timely one. The Mental Health Foundation has released a new set of resources aimed at supporting young people and also at staff to support their mental health. The ‘Rethinking rest guide’ is for staff working with young people to support them in how they think about their own mental health. Staff having a level of resilience is key in supporting young people as the adage goes ‘you can’t pour from an empty cup’.

The new packs for students are:

  • Nature: Connecting with the world around us
  • Body Image: How we think and feel about our bodies
  • Sleep: Finding our confidence with sleep
  • Kindness: Why kindness matters

The last pack links in nicely with the upcoming theme of ‘Kindness’ for National Anti-Bullying Week in November.

nasen are returning to face to face training over this year and have Youth Mental Health First Aid courses at different levels to support you should you wish to further your knowledge and understanding.
