‘Back on Track’ for children with SEND

‘Back on Track’ is a resource developed by the UCL Centre for Inclusive Education (CIE) to provide evidence-based guidance to schools and parents to support children and young people get back on track after the pandemic. It has been written in response to findings which identify that vulnerable children and those with SEND are at risk of a secondary impact of the pandemic because of reduced access to education, support, therapy, and funds.

The programme highlights the impact that mental health difficulties can have on poor attainment and high exclusion rates and how, because of the pandemic, support in this area must be an even higher priority. The guidance provides an overview of different types of support for academic skills and emotional wellbeing with links to a range of free resources and activities that can be done in school or at home.
