Coronavirus Guidance for School Updated
After the announcement from the government that we are moving to Step 4 of the roadmap to easing restrictions, new guidance has been issued for schools and specialist settings.
The protective measures that will remain are:
- ensuring good hygiene,
- ventilation and
- regular testing for secondary pupils until the end of September when this will be reviewed.
Bubbles will no longer be a feature of school life and assemblies, school trips, drama, music and sporting activity can resume. Additionally, Senior Leadership teams will no longer need to carry out the contact tracing, instead this will be handed over to NHS Test and Trace. All guidance can be accessed via the links below.
- Guidance for special schools and other specialist settings

- Actions for FE colleges and providers during the coronavirus outbreak
- Actions for early years and childcare providers during the coronavirus outbreak
- Use of PPE in education, childcare and children’s social care
From 16th August 2021, all children and young people under the age of 18 will no longer be required to self-isolate if they are contacted by NHS Test and Trace as a close contact of a positive COVID-19 case. Instead, they will be advised to take a PCR test. Settings will continue to work with local Public Health teams in the case of a local outbreak.
There remains separate guidance for those who are deemed Clinically Extremely Vulnerable (CEV) and this will be updated prior to 19th July.
