Double celebrations for nasen as BETT AWARDS 2025 announce shortlist

nasen – the charitable membership organisation which exists to support and champion those working with, and for, children and young people with special educational needs and disability (SEND) and learning differences – is celebrating today as the shortlist for the BETT Awards 2025 has been announced.

The organisation – which has been bringing the best of research and evidence informed training and resources to the sector since 1991 – has been shortlisted in two categories:

Best Early Years Product or Service for Meeting the Needs of Every Child Webinars

Best Free Digital Content, App or Open Education Resource for its Online SEND CPD Units

Both of the shortlisted products are FREE to access, thanks to funding from the Department for Education through the Early Years SEND Partnership and the Universal SEND Services programme respectively. And at a time when budgets are stretched and demands remain high, knowing where to access quality assured CPD that doesn’t break the bank can only be a benefit for the sector.

‘Meeting the Needs of Every Child’ webinars provide early years practitioners, childminders and SENCOs, with an overview and understanding of inclusive practice for Special Educational Needs and Disabilities (SEND) in the early years. By demystifying and familiarising practitioners with the acronyms, terminology and guidance around SEND, they are supported in developing inclusive practice, both in their personal approach and more widely in their setting.

Meanwhile, the Online SEND CPD Units form the cornerstone of the ambitious Universal SEND Services programme, which is delivered by nasen through Whole School SEND. Developed in partnership with Real Group Ltd, the units explore 20 of the most commonly observed barriers to learning in classrooms and other learning environments, regardless of age, label or area of need.

Chief Executive of nasen, and Chair of Whole School SEND, Annamarie Hassall, MBE, said: “nasen has been driving the inclusion agenda for over 30 years now, and we are as passionate as ever about ensuring that all learners benefit from high quality inclusive teaching.

“Like everything we do, these products provide practical guidance that helps improve teaching skills and increase practitioners’ confidence in identifying and supporting additional needs. Feedback from our delegates tell us that what we do really works, so it’s brilliant – but not surprising – to see our products being endorsed by the wider education community, such as the expert judging panel at the BETT Awards.

“We hope that these fully-funded products provide valuable support for the whole workforce, and I’d encourage all practitioners – whatever their role or careers stage – to make full use of them and the rest of our SEND CPD by signing up for FREE nasen membership.”
