Have you considered the financial barriers in your school?
Child Poverty Action Group have produced their annual calendar for schools to help them to identify the possible financial barriers during the academic year and consider cost conscious ways to mark important dates and events. The calendar takes each month and highlights some of the more celebrated annual events such as Jeans for Genes Day, BBC Children in Need and Christmas Jumper Day, alongside religious festivals and national saints days, to prompt schools to consider alternatives to make them more inclusive for all children and young people. Alongside the ideas are examples of best practice from schools that have taken part in the Cost of the School Day project.
There are many more resources via their website including a Toolkit for schools to investigate barriers themselves and to help tackle poverty and the cost of the school day.
