DfE and Ofqual Consultation Ends

The consultation on the proposals for awarding GCSE, AS and A level grades and Vocational and Technical qualifications this Summer drew to a close on Friday 29th January. In a blog by Simon Lebus, Interim Chief Regulator of Ofqual, he expands on the thinking behind the proposal of using externally-set papers as part of the overall grade awarded in response to concerns by students that they are ‘exams by the back door’. The consultation specifically recognised the need for reasonable adjustments to be considered and the viability of this under the current constraints. Ofqual announced that over 103,000 responses have been recorded and the next steps will be published during the week beginning 22nd February.
