nasen Recognised Teacher of SEND course

This course gives you access to 'An introduction to SEND in practice' and 'Understanding and supporting universal needs' modules plus an additional eight webinars and two live sessions. You will be awarded nasen Recognised Teacher of SEND upon completion of the module.

This course is open to everyone working as a teacher in a school or FE setting, with or without QTS (Qualified Teacher Status). If you work in a non-teaching role (TA, nursery nurse, LSA etc), you may be interested in our Recognised Practitioner of SEND course.

Frequently Asked Questions

You can purchase either of the below modules to complete as a standalone piece of CPD;

  • “An introduction to SEND in practice” or
  • “Understanding and supporting universal needs”

Or you can purchase the entire Recognised Practitioner/Teacher of SEND course which includes both the “An introduction to SEND in practice” and “Understanding and supporting universal needs” modules as well as the “nasen Recognised Teacher/Practitioner of SEND impact module”. Completion of the impact module results in the awarding of nasen Recognised Teacher/Practitioner of SEND status. 

Both “An introduction to SEND in practice” and “Understanding and supporting universal needs” modules cost £200.

The nasen Recognised Practitioner/Teacher of SEND course (those two modules plus the impact module) costs £500. 

The impact module can only be accessed if you have already completed the “An introduction to SEND in practice” and “Understanding and supporting universal needs” modules.

The Annual Webinar Pass provides access to all the content in our Knowledge Hub as well as all new webinars that are delivered over the period of your AWP membership.

The modular CPD programme provides access to a curated set of webinars group around a central theme as well as a live session aimed at contextualising this content plus an assessment.

If you complete all three modules you will also receive the nasen Recognised Practitioner/Teacher of SEND award.

All of our modules include live sessions. The aim of the live sessions is to contextualise the asynchronous content as well as to share practice with colleagues.

You will have access to the module resources for 12 months from the date you begin the course. If you start a module on the 1st of November 2021 you will have access to the resources until 31st October 2022.

If you work as teacher in a school or FE setting, with or without QTS (Qualified Teacher Status), you may be interested in our Recognised Teacher of SEND course is suitable for you.

If you work in a non-teaching role (TA, nursery nurse, LSA etc), you may be interested in our Recognised Practitioner of SEND course.

No, these programmes are not accredited externally. However, they were designed in response to a need within the sector for enhanced, dedicated CPDL around SEND. We have designed them to be relevant and applicable for all teachers/practitioners who wish to complete them.

You will have access to webinars from the knowledge hub which are included in the module you have purchased. For example, if you have purchased “Understanding and supporting universal needs” you will have access to: “An introduction to neurodiversity”; “An introduction to Interoception”; “Understanding Emotion Regulation” and “Universal Support: strategies for all”.
